It was an honour to be involved in celebrations across the borough yesterday to mark Windrush Day on Windrush 75. It’s been great to see so many proudly celebrating the Windrush history and culture that has made Lambeth the area we love to live in today.
On Thursday morning, I also managed to squeeze in a visit to Brixton Recreation Centre at the invitation of SportInspired, alongside my fellow Lambeth MP Florence Eshalomi.
It was wonderful to be at Lambeth Council’s first ever Pride reception with my fellow Lambeth MPs Florence Eshalomi and Helen Hayes.
On Tuesday, I joined a rainy picket line with cleaners from Streatham and Clapham High School during their third day of strike action.
I was invited to the Black Cultural Archives by Royal Mail for the official launch of eight commemorative Windrush-themed stamps to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first Windrush arrivals in Britain.
It was great to meet City Heights Academy pupils alongside The Mayor of London to see how they benefit from High Trees Community Development Trust’s mentoring scheme.
