I spoke against the Tories’ attempts to progress their cruel and costly Rwanda Deportation scheme by disregarding court rulings that have found Rwanda to be an unsafe place to send asylum seekers to simply rule it as safe. International law is not whatever we say it is; it’s comprised of solemn and binding treaties and agreements. This policy brings shame on our country, would inflict harm on asylum seekers, and will not work on its stated terms of deterring Channel Boat crossings. The Tories should cut their losses and drop this ridiculous policy.
