Scroll down to see my 2021 report to constituents.
It’s been a privilege representing Streatham as your Labour MP for another year. The last year has been incredibly difficult for everyone across the constituency. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have lost loved ones and to anyone struggling to cope with the impact of the pandemic.
The pandemic has seen a big surge in casework locally, with my team and I taking on thousands of cases to ensure constituents get the help they need. Together, we made collective sacrifices during the pandemic to keep each other safe, drawing on community traditions of activism, faith and strength in diversity. It is clear that we have been undermined at every stage by a Government that repeatedly broke their own rules,
contracted out services to friends and family members, and ignored scientific evidence.
It’s not just poor short-term decision making. Our preparation for the pandemic was a decade of wage stagnation, public service cuts and rising poverty that clobbered the poorest and left us in a weaker position than ever before.
We won’t address the challenges of the years ahead by repeating the mistakes of the last ten years. We have to build back from the bottom up to create a society where everyone enjoys a good standard of living.Annual-Report-website
