Thanks to Five X More‘s amazing advocacy work, Parliament will debate Black Maternal Health for the first time in its history next Monday. It was a privilege to chair their public meeting last night. In case you missed it, here’s the video in full.
According to the latest statistics, Black women are four times more likely, mixed heritage women three times more likely and Asian women twice as likely to die in pregnancy and childbirth. Despite this, the Government hasn’t set a target to end this. Tomorrow, we’ll be calling on them to come forward with a meaningful plan of action to end the appalling situation in Black maternal health.
Make sure to tune in to next week’s debate in Parliament!
