It was great to see so many people at Stand Up to Racism’s day of refugee solidarity last weekend in Windrush Square.

We must remind the Government that we don’t just have a moral obligation to help people fleeing from conditions which the UK has often helped to create; we have an international legal obligation to resettle people under the Geneva Convention.

The difference between us and refugees is an accident of birth. In the face of the unrelenting attacks on migrants and their rights, we must stand in solidarity and continue speaking out to demand safe and legal routes for people fleeing famine, war and poverty.
