I voted against the Jenrick amendment to the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Office Bill. This was intended to prevent the public sector from participating in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign. The wording was so broad it may well stop pension administrators divesting pensions from fossil fuels, arms manufacturers and companies that profit from human rights abuses. Public bodies shouldn’t be strongarmed into financing companies that disregard human rights abuses at the behest of the state.
