It was a pleasure to head to Streatham Hill last weekend for the Friends of Hillside Gardens annual sports day and a tour of the beautiful allotment.
After accompanying the Streatham Hill councillors to their surgery, we went up to Hillside Gardens Park where residents took part in lots of fun events from walking football to tennis for kids and theatre workshops.
Over the past few months, we’ve seen the importance of our green spaces as a source of entertainment, exercise and escapism. Many people in Streatham don’t have gardens, having access to somewhere you can exercise, breathe some fresh air or just get a change of scene has become vital. Protecting green spaces is a public health imperative and I’m committed to protecting ours as part of a greener, cleaner Streatham.
