It was good to join Kaya Comer Schwartz, Deputy Mayor of London for Policing, on a visit to the Beth Centre in Stockwell, which supports women impacted by the criminal justice system in our area. We know women are often drawn into the criminal justice system by issues like poverty, domestic abuse, mental ill-health, and a lack of safe housing. I was glad to meet with staff and service users to better understand what a trauma-informed approach to rehabilitation can look like.
