This week, I was drawn for a question to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. I used it to highlight the recent African Union session, which brought together heads of state from across the continent, as well as the Caribbean, to discuss the issue of reparations. I pointed out that similar discussions on reparations will continue to happen, whether we are part of them or not. As the balance of global power shifts, I urged the UK government to listen and start to play a constructive role in addressing our country’s legacy of slavery and colonialism.
