Streatham vaccine

This weekend, I visited the Streatham Library pop-up vaccine clinic organised by Valley Road surgery, where it was good to see some familiar faces, including brilliant volunteer David, who I met a month ago or so when I visited the Baldry Gardens clinic. Thanks to brilliant volunteers like David as well as council staff and NHS workers, the Streatham vaccine rollout is well underway.

This weekend’s pop-up clinic, along with another at South London Islamic Centre was aimed at over 50s and those in high-risk groups. When it comes to coronavirus, we’ve seen that nobody is truly safe until everybody is. That’s why it’s vital that we continue to do all we can to maximise vaccine uptake across our community. These pop-up clinics are an important part of that, making it easy and efficient for more people in Streatham to get their first shot of the vaccine.

It was great to see so many people excited to get their first jab this weekend. The success of the local vaccine rollout is also testament to what we can achieve when we put the NHS in charge of delivering public health projects, as opposed to the private companies who made such a mess of Test and Trace.

If you are aged over 50 or in one of the high-risk groups, you can book your Covid-19 vaccine now.
