Eleven people stand in front of a green “Friends of Clapham Common” banner at a park bandstand with ornate ironwork and red columns. Dressed warmly, they hold litter-picking tools and green trash bags, suggesting a community clean-up. Autumn trees frame the background.

It was a pleasure to join local Labour councillors and activists on Clapham Common earlier this month for litter picking and doorstep conversations. The day offered a valuable opportunity to help improve the Common and listen to local residents. It was great to help clean up a cherished local green space and connect with people to talk about the issues that matter to them.
