This LGBT+ History Month, we have been celebrating LGBT+ people and their fight for equality and an end to discrimination. Sadly, we all know this fight is not over yet. In this month’s parliamentary debate, I asked the government a simple question: when are we getting a ban on conversion practices? This was a key manifesto commitment after the last government dragged its feet. I was glad to hear the Under-Secretary of State for Equalities recommit to enacting a trans-inclusive ban. However, as I pointed out during my speech, every day of delay leaves more people subjected to this abuse. We need a trans-inclusive ban on conversion therapy.
