What exists in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories is a ceasefire in name only. All it has achieved is to shift global attention away from Israel’s war crimes. The air strikes have not stopped, the siege has not been lifted and Palestinians remain under systematic assault. Not a single hospital has been permitted to reopen, people are living in tents and the death count continues to tick up. UK government decisions are sustaining the very machinery of destruction it claims to condemn. As Israel escalates other regional offensives in the West Bank, Syria and Lebanon, Britain continues to supply arms and military collaboration. On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, I joined over 100,000 people to demand an end to our country’s continuing complicity.
