Every week, MPs’ inboxes are full of constituents dealing with chronic disrepair issues. Housing associations are among the worst offenders. I’ve recently been supporting residents of Darcus Howe Apartments with a range of urgent problems: from heating outages to security failures. Their provider, Notting Hill Genesis, has repeatedly failed to address these issues. When challenged, they consistently hide behind their property management company. In my experience, too many housing associations outsource accountability in this way with little redress for residents. I asked what more can be done to address the lack of accountability.
