During a discussion on support for small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, I raised an issue repeatedly shared with me by local business owners. The abrupt removal of Covid support was devastating for small businesses in Clapham & Brixton Hill. The lifeline extended to these businesses was removed almost overnight, leaving them repaying loans, covering staff wages and other expenses before the economy had bounced back. In the event of a future crisis, we must ensure that similar support measures for business do not end with such a cliff-edge.
