The mass closure of schools in Streatham as part of coronavirus social distancing measures means most children will be receiving their education at home for months to come. In order to keep up with school work, children and teachers are heavily reliant on computer technology.
Unfortunately, whilst many schools in the local area have been able to provide students with the requisite technology to continue their education, deep funding cuts mean many are going without. This problem is compounded by household poverty in our area too.
I’m therefore calling on Streatham businesses and residents with any spare laptops, iPads and tablets to donate these to someone who really needs it. As we’ve seen again and again, it’s those with the least who are feeling the effects of this crisis the most and your donation could make a massive difference in helping a local child to keep up with their work.
