Clapham Park Estate households out of their homes over Christmas, with nowhere else to go and Covid cases at record highs.
A huge thank you to everyone in the constituency who kindly donated your warm coats to help newly arrived refugees in the constituency.
This month, I visited the approximately 80 refugees being housed in the Dudley Hotel in
Clapham, holding two days’ worth of surgeries there to take down personal details and
raise individual cases with the Home Office.
I’m making the most of the summer to get out and talk to people in the local community. Me and my team have organised a range of pop-up Streatham MP surgeries across the constituency to support people and businesses in our area towards the end of August and start of September.
Our community has been deeply disturbed by the abduction of Sarah Everard. In response to Sarah’s disappearance, thousands of women planned to hold a peaceful, socially distanced vigil in Clapham Common Park to remember her and the thousands of women who have been victims of male violence.
From the donations we’ve received to my Laptops for Learning fundraiser, we’ve now managed to provide 37 Chromebooks to school children in the local area. Thank you for your generosity.
