A group of people gather under a blue canopy branded “Brixton Safe” and “Brixton Business Improvement District.” A man in the foreground speaks to the group, gesturing with his hands, while police officers, local officials, and community members listen. Behind them are shopfronts, including signs for “Rebel Rebel” and “Bar 78,” indicating a busy Brixton street setting.

This month, the Minister for Policing visited Windrush Square to launch the Brixton Safe Hub, a new community safety initiative in the heart of Brixton. Operating on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, this space provides practical support for anyone feeling unsafe. Staffed by Brixton BID’s street team, it offers everything from phone charging to first aid. It is part of local efforts to tackle knife crime, anti-social behaviour and the harassment of women and girls in this area. It’s vital that everyone in our area feels safe when walking around Brixton Town Centre. With knife crime in Lambeth falling by 36% year on year, hopefully this will help continue the downward trend.
