I hosted a well-attended discussion in Parliament with author Nova Reid about activism, burnout and rest. We cannot underestimate the physiological impact of being a Black woman in public life. As Nova said, “we cannot burn ourselves out into liberation”. It was great to challenge the stereotype of the strong Black woman and explore how we might hardwire rest, recovery and healing into our work and activism.
