On Thursday afternoon, I spoke in this year’s International Women’s Day debate. This year’s theme is “accelerate action”. I focused my remarks on health, one sadly neglected policy area where this is especially true. From worsening maternity care to ongoing shortcomings around the treatment of reproductive health conditions, it’s clear that women’s health issues were not a priority for the last government. If we are going to tackle gender inequality, accelerating action on women’s health is vital.
